How to Personalize Your D365 F&O Dashboard in 3 Simple Steps

Caf2Code June 29, 2021 2 min read

One of the best things about D365 is the ability to store vast amounts of information and implement complex processes. However, an overabundance of information or information that is not relevant in the wrong spaces can actually do the opposite and hurt productivity.

Editor's update — June 2026: The three-step process still works: selecting the Settings gear and then Personalize opens the personalization toolbar, where the Hide and Move tools let you tailor the dashboard, as documented in Microsoft's Personalize the user experience guide. However, there is no fixed "63 tiles" default; Microsoft notes you only ever see the workspaces and apps your security roles grant access to, and the modern default dashboard is now organized into distinct Apps and Workspaces areas rather than one flat wall of tiles, per the Default dashboard documentation. Today you can also pin a workspace count tile to the dashboard by right-clicking it and choosing Personalize > Pin to dashboard, and you can switch your landing page between the default dashboard and the Copilot-powered Immersive Home via the Initial page setting under Settings > User options.

One of the best things about D365 is the ability to store vast amounts of information and implement complex processes. However, an overabundance of information or information that is not relevant in the wrong spaces can actually do the opposite and hurt productivity.

When logging into the D365 Finance and Operations application for the first time, the first page you'll see is a dashboard with many white tiles that link to nested workspaces.

The default dashboard has 63 tiles - that is a lot of information to wade through to find what you are looking for. In fact, chances are that you will not be using all of these tiles and their existence just serves to clutter your dashboard.

Luckily, Microsoft has made it easy to customize your dashboard to make it work for you.
